It was exhilarating and makes me wondering what am I missing by purposefully avoiding sports-themed books.

What I love the most about this series it that it was a fast paced, thrilling ride from start to finish: when you’re on court is the thrill of the competition, when you’re off court, it’s the mafia aspect of the story where Neil had to keep looking back and be smart to avoid capture.

In fact, it made me happy because it gave a promise for a fast paced adventure.Īnd it truly was. It does sound a lot, but for me it didn’t feel like an info-dumping. Within the first chapter, we find out about Neil’s background, Exy, The Palmetto Foxes, the characters, and the whole mafia business. The first book, The Foxhole Court, opens with our main character Neil Josten just finished an Exy game and being recruited by the Palmetto State’s Exy team, the Foxes, which include Kevin Day and Andrew Minyard. It took a while (years) before I finally picked it up in June but when I did, I immediately got hooked and finished the whole series in almost a week. It is also constantly being compared to The Raven Cycle, which put this series on my TBR. This series is literally EVERYWHERE on book tumblr, from quotes to memes to aesthetics and endless mention of Kevin Day, Neil Josten, and Andrew Minyard. The whole time there’s an underlying tension caused by the mystery that surrounds Neil’s past and I’m dying to get to know more about it!!! Somehow he brings out my maternal instinct and I’m not even a mother.ĭefinitely. Of course, with his past and being on the run for years, I guess you have to grow up fast. God, he is soo young and still so mature. But it is Neil, in particular, I love the most. Hell, yes! I love all of them, with or without their psychoses. In this series, the boys play Exy, a more brutal version of lacrosse mixed with hockey and the description of their first game was so vivid, I felt like sitting at the very edge of the court myself.īe warned, there is no romance in this book! Not a kiss (well, that’s not exactly true, but it was not a KISS if you know what I mean -)), much less sex in sight, but I feel a chemistry between Neil and Andrew that holds promise to develop into an exceptional relationship. Lacrosse is not extremely popular in Germany and I had to consult Wikipedia to get to know more about it.

Nonetheless, it sucked me right into the story and that’s all I could have wished for. Of course, it’s great, but I wouldn’t say it’s exceptional. I LOVED THIS BOOK ! To be honest, I can’t even explain why… Good question! Let’s say, I just wanted to know what the fuss is all about and now… I’m taking part in the fuss. You might ask yourself now ‘Why the hell did she read this book, then?’. And YA? Nah… Somehow I feel too old for this kind of books. (I have a horse and that’s enough sports for me. I’m not the biggest fan of sports on earth. The Foxhole Court caught me completely by surprise. The Foxhole Court By Nora Sakavic (All for the Game, #1) *****5 Stars*****
